How Rememb handles your activity data — short version: it stays on your machine, and the only network call is a license check.

Last updated: September 29, 2026

Rememb is built around a simple promise: the data on your computer stays on your computer. This page explains, in plain language, what Rememb records, where it lives, and the one narrow case where anything leaves your machine.

We try to keep this document short and human-readable. If anything is unclear, email olehkolega@gmail.com — the operator behind Rememb personally reads and replies.

What we collect

Rememb records the foreground window you are using on your Windows machine. For each session we store: the application name (e.g. "Firefox", "Visual Studio Code"), the window title as the application reports it to the operating system, the start and end time of the session, and its duration.

For browser windows we also store the page address shown in the browser's address bar, so you can see which site you were on instead of only the page title.

That is the full set of data we collect from your activity. Nothing else is recorded.

What we do not collect

Rememb does not record keystrokes, screenshots, audio, video, clipboard contents, file contents, or your screen as an image. We record the address of the page you are on, but never what is on it: no page text, no web form data, and no messages.

We do not run keyloggers, screen recorders, or input-monitoring agents of any kind.

  • No keystrokes or clipboard
  • No screenshots or screen recording
  • No file contents or web form bodies
  • No microphone, camera, or location

Where your data is stored

All activity data is stored locally on the machine where Rememb is installed, in a SQLite database under your user profile's app-data folder (typically %APPDATA%\Rememb\ on Windows). The data does not sync to any server. Uninstalling Rememb removes the application; deleting its data folder or using the in-app clear button removes your recorded history.

License check network call

The only outbound network request Rememb makes is a license-activation check at first launch and periodically thereafter. This call transmits a one-way hash derived from your machine identifier — it is used solely to confirm that your license key is valid for that machine.

It does not transmit your activity data, your window titles, your installed applications, or anything from the SQLite database. The hash cannot be reversed into your machine ID.

Privacy Mode

Rememb includes a Privacy Mode you can toggle in the application settings. When Privacy Mode is on, Rememb automatically masks incognito and InPrivate browser windows, and any window whose title matches patterns you have flagged as sensitive (for example, banking or health apps). Masked sessions are not recorded.

Export and deletion

You can export your full activity history at any time from the application, in CSV or JSON format. You can also wipe your entire history with a single click from the same screen. Rememb does not retain a copy of your data once it is deleted from your machine.

No third-party analytics or trackers

Rememb does not include any third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, crash reporters, telemetry, or tracking pixels. We do not sell, rent, or share data with anyone — there is no data to sell, because your data does not leave your machine.

Children's data

Rememb is a productivity tool for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has used Rememb, please contact us and we will help you delete any locally-stored data.

EU and UK data-subject rights

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data Rememb holds about you. Because Rememb stores activity data only on your own machine, the fastest way to exercise these rights is to use Rememb's built-in export and clear functions. For anything else, email olehkolega@gmail.com.

Our legal basis for processing the limited data described above is your use of the software; we do not perform automated decision-making or profiling with your data.

Changes to this policy

If we make a material change to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For substantial changes, we may also surface a notice inside the Rememb application on next launch.
